Zones of Barcelona: Gotico-Ramblas

The Barrio Gotico or Gothic Quarter is the core of Barcelona and one of its most ancient parts. Delimited by the Ramblas, a promenade as emblematic as it’s animated, and the majestic Via Layetana, this district of medieval origins congregates very interesting monuments like the Cathedral, the Santa Maria del Pi church or the Palace of the Generalitat where the Catalonian government has its seat. Without a doubt this area is perfect to rent a tourist apartment in Barcelona.

The Gotico also hosts many corners and little squares steeped in history, between roman walls and narrow medieval streets. Portal del Angel and Portaferrissa streets are perfect for the most demanding shoppers with many different boutiques and shops.

The Ramblas represent without a doubt the most known walk of Barcelona since the visitor who strolls along its two kilometres has the opportunity to see a never-ending line of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes but also to admire emblematic buildings such as the Teatro Liceu (Barcelona’s opera), the Boquería market or the Plaza Real.

The Ramblas start with the Plaza Cataluña and end with the Columbus monument facing the port. To rent an apartment in this area is to be the closest to the authentic Barcelona.
